Title: ObservationsofablackholeX-raybinaryindicatetheformationofamagneticallyarresteddisk(MAD)    Speaker: BeiYou   Abstract: Accretionofmaterialontoablackholedragsanymagneticfieldspresentinwards,increasingtheirstrength.Theorypredictsthatsufficientlystrongmagneticfieldscanhalttheaccretionflow,producingamagneticallyarresteddisk(MAD).Inthistalk,Iwillintroduceourrecentworkinwhichthemulti-wavelength lightcurves ofablackholeX-raybinarywerestudied.Thediscoveredtime-delaybetweentheradioandX-rayemissionnicelyrevealshowaMADisformedinthestellar-massBHaccretion.ThisstudyhelpsusunderstandthemagneticfieldtransferandBHaccretion.    Bio: Dr.BeiYou(游贝)gothisPhDatShanghaiObservatoryin2014(Supervisor:Prof. Xinwu Cao).ThemainaspectofhisPhDstudywasthedisk-coronaaccretiontheoryinBHX-raybinaryandAGNandthemeasurementofBHspininthesesystems.Afterthat,heworkedatNicolausCopernicusAstronomicalCentre(NCAC)asapost-doctorbetween2014and2017inPoland.In2017,hejoinedthefaculty atWuhanUniversity.TheresearchinterestofDr.YouiscurrentlyconcentratingontwotopicsinBHX-raybinary:(i)studyingtheoutflow/windinBHaccretiondisk;(ii)modelingthefastvariabilityinthetimedomain,includingthecharacteristicQuasi-Periodic-Oscillation(QPO)andbroadbandnoise.     Time: 14:00-15:00PM,29/May, Wednesday  Venue:Room508(largeseminarroom),DepartmentofAstronomy    Youcanalsoaccessthecolloquiumvia: https://www.koushare.com/homepage/329883
